Rob brings more than 20 years of experience managing successful business-to-business media organizations within the pharma and life science industries. He previously served as sales director for BioTechniques, president of the BioScience Group at Informa Business Information, and publisher at Advanstar Communications and Thomson/Medical Economics. At LabX Media Group, he directs Drug Discovery News, The Scientist, and Technology Networks.

Kristie Nybo, PhD,
Group Content Director

Kristie joined the Drug Discovery News team with 15 years of experience in science publishing. For the last two years, she has served as creative services director for The Scientist. Prior to that, she wrote for, directed news content, and managed peer review for the journal BioTechniques for more than a decade. She has also served in public relations communications and medical writing and editorial roles. Kristie earned her PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and conducted research at UCLA and at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) on brain development and signal transduction in mouse models.

Tiffany Garbutt, PhD,
Associate Science Editor

Tiffany earned her PhD in genetics from North Carolina State University, where she explored the effects of genetic background on the ability to derive induced pluripotent stem cells. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in developing translational approaches to direct cardiac reprogramming and understanding the mechanisms of cardiomyocyte maturation. She has written for multiple medical, nonprofit, and academic peer-reviewed outlets. In March 2020, Tiffany joined LabX Media Group as an assistant science editor for The Scientist. She began working with Drug Discovery News in October 2020 as leader of the custom content team.

Stephanie DeMarco,
PhD Assistant Editor

Stephanie earned a PhD in molecular biology from UCLA in 2019, where she studied how the human parasite Trypanosoma brucei controls its social behavior. During her PhD studies, Stephanie served as editor-in-chief of Signal to Noise Magazine, a non-profit online science magazine run by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and wrote for the epigenetics blog, EpiBeat, as a freelance writer. Stephanie was an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at the Los Angeles Times, following which she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA. She joined DDN as an assistant editor in March 2021.

Sarah Anderson,
PhD Assistant Editor

Sarah joined Drug Discovery News as an assistant editor in 2022. She earned her PhD in chemistry and master’s degree in science journalism from Northwestern University. She served as managing editor of the Illinois Science Council’s “Science Unsealed” blog and has written for Discover MagazineAstronomy MagazineChicago Health Magazine, and others.

Dan Samorodnitsky, PhD,
Senior Editor

Dan became senior editor at Drug Discovery News in 2022. He earned a PhD in biochemistry from SUNY Buffalo and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the USDA and Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining DDN, he edited for Massive Science. His work has also appeared in The Daily BeastVICEGROW, and Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News, among other publications.

Kristyn Reid,
Art Director

Kristyn joined LabX Media Group in April 2019. Since joining LMG, she has worked on numerous design projects and transitioned to the new art director for DDN, refreshing the magazine and all of the branding elements. Kristyn graduated with an advanced diploma in graphic design and a certificate in art+design fundamentals from Georgian College.

Yuning Wang, PhD,
Assistant Science Editor

Yuning joined the custom content team at Drug Discovery News in June 2022. She earned her PhD in biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario, where she investigated how calcium sensor proteins regulate muscle cell membrane repair and cause muscular dystrophy. Yuning developed a passion for science communication during graduate school and began her career as a science writer in 2020.

Alex Ruffle,
Junior Account Executive

Alex earned her bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Guelph and has worked primarily within the hospitality and health and wellness industries in sales and marketing, team management, and customer experience.

Alex Maranduik,
Marketing Director

Alex holds an MSc in marketing and consumer studies from the University of Guelph. He believes in a data-driven approach to marketing and has experience with ecommerce, product development, project management, privacy legislation, and marketing automation. Alex leads the marketing department in matching the right content with the right audience to optimize user experience and maximize reader engagement.

Dana Sizing,
Sales Director

Dana joined LabX Media Group in August of 2019. She spent two years working with The Scientist as a senior account executive and has joined the Drug Discovery News team as sales director. Dana brings more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the life science market, specifically in biotech and biopharma.

Ryan King,
Account Executive

Ryan began his media sales career at The Chicago Sun-Times newspaper more than 20 years ago. Since then, he has worked for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, and a number of business-to-business publications. Ryan joined the DDN team 8 years ago and has watched the life science media market evolve from a predominantly print-focused industry into a multichannel digital and lead generation minded media community.
